CQUniversity’s Information Technology Division (ITD) is in the process of upgrading all ISL videoconference lecture theatres on the Bundaberg, Mackay, Gladstone, and Rockhampton campuses. These upgrades provide new features and enhancements that will improve the delivery of live ISL lectures and recorded lectures for students.
What are the changes?
- In Term 1, 2010 all ISL videoconference theatres will include next generation "dual video" presentation and recording features. This enables presenters to conveniently display themselves and their materials simultaneously to all participating staff and students.
- A simple layout for each ISL theatre touch panel has also been introduced to make presenting different resources easier for staff and students on each campus.
The benefits for CQUniversity students and staff...
Students and staff will be able to see both the presenter and the materials being presented simultaneously (e.g. presenter and PowerPoint, or presenter and movie etc). No more manual switching within sessions!
The control systems (touch panel) in each major theatre has been simplified and standardised to make participation by presenters and students easier and more accessible. See the “Screen Snapshots” section below for a preview of the proposed touch panel.
The lecture recording system can now record both video streams (presenter & materials), greatly improving the lecture play-back experience for study and revision. See the “Screen Snapshots” section below for an example.
The system will offer greater quality and reliability as aging infrastructure and configuration is replaced with standardised, latest generation technology.
