Password age limits do not affect staff accessing the Employee Self Service Online (ESSO) System.
ESSO is unique from other systems available on the CQUniversity network as it provides staff with access to their personal employee records. As a result ESSO is configured so that both former and current CQUniversity staff can access their employee information regardless if their password exceeds the 180 day password age limit.
Former CQUniversity staff can access the ESSO System for up to two years after they have ceased employment with the University. Staff in this situation should use their existing CQUniversity username and login password.
When current CQUniversity staff change their passwords, the ESSO system is automatically updated with your new password. This means whenever CQUniversity staff change their password it is immediately synchronised and active across all systems throughout the CQUniversity network.
2. Can staff on extended leave be affected by password age limits?
Password age limits do affect staff on extended leave as all CQUniversity staff login passwords have an age limit of 180 days.
Staff still accessing their CQUniversity staff email account while on leave will receive automated reminders from the ITD Client Service Centre to change their password as it approaches its 180 day password age limit.
Staff not accessing their CQUniversity staff email account while on leave should establish their personal identification questions and answers on the online self help CQUniversity Password Reset System. This online resource will enable you to self sufficiently reset or change your password in the event that you are locked out of the CQUniversity network.
If you are on leave and your password does expire the consequences are as follows:
On Campus Staff- The system will deny you access to the CQUniversity network and you will be prompted to change your password. If using an independent device to access the CQUniversity network (such as a PDA or laptop), you may need to reset the password for this device separately.
Off Campus Staff- Unless you have registered your personal identification questions on the online self help Password Reset System, the system will deny you access to the CQUniversity network and you must contact the ITD Client Service Centre.
