Network upgrade will increase connection speeds between CQUniversity’s campuses.
Earlier this week, the Australian Academic & Research Network (AARNet) Pty Ltd announced plans to upgrade its network between Cairns and Brisbane to a dual link 10Gbps service.
As CQUniversity currently uses this network to connect to its eight campuses in Queensland, News South Wales and Victoria; this upgrade will increase the University’s connection speed to more than 10,000 times the speed of what is typically available for ADSL2+ broadband users in Australia.
The Associate Director of CQUniversity’s Information Technology Directorate, Roy Pidgeon, said “CQUniversity highly values the benefits that AARNet delivers.
“With the network upgrade, we can now stream high quality live lectures across five regional campuses and deliver rich media lecture content on-demand to our students. We will also be able to improve online collaboration for our distance learning students, researchers and practitioners in many different ways.”
