Reminder to Rockhampton Staff: Changes to network print servers

A review of Rockhampton’s two primary network print servers, ROKPRINT and MAKO highlighted a number of naming inconsistencies impacting on staff’s ability to locate and map to network printers.

To make this process easier, in November 2008 the Information Technology Division introduced a new naming scheme for these network printers based on their building and room location, and their printer model.

As part of this scheme, over the past five weeks ITD has been assisting Rockhampton staff to map to the new ROKSTAFFPRINT network print server.

Now that the transition to the new print server is significantly completed, we would like to take this opportunity to remind staff that we intend to decommission the ROKPRINT and MAKO print servers after COB Friday 2 January 2009.

Therefore if you haven’t already done so, it is necessary that staff map their computers to the new ROKSTAFFPRINT print server before COB Friday 2 January 2009.
Please note: this print server change does not currently affect Rockhampton Library staff (connected to printers on 'lulu' print server); Rockhampton DTLS staff (connected to printers on 'dtlsprintman' print server); and Rockhampton Mac users.
