Rockhampton’s NEW Network Print Server is ACTIVE!

The Information Technology Division has introduced a new network print server called: ROKSTAFFPRINT. It is now active and available for connection by Rockhampton staff.

The installation of the ROKSTAFFPRINT print server enables ITD to provide a more consistent process for staff attempting to locate and map to various network printers on Rockhampton Campus.

What does this mean?

1. It is important for Rockhampton staff currently mapped to either a ROKPRINT or MAKO print server to connect to the new ROKSTAFFPRINT print server. You can identify the new naming details of each network printer based on
its building and room location, and its printer model.
2. A timely migration is necessary for Rockhampton Campus as the objective is to decommission the ROKPRINT and MAKO print severs by January 2009.
3. Once staff have mapped to the new network print server, please take the opportunity to delete any existing network printers linked to the old ROKPRINT or MAKO print server.

FYI- This print server migration does not currently include: Library staff (connected to printers on LULU print server); DTLS staff (connected to printers on DTLSPRINTMAN print server); and Mac users.

What support is available?

  • For instructions on adding a network printer to your computer, click: How do I Add a Network Printer?
  • An overview of the new naming details for each network printer is available online
  • During the next three weeks, ITD Field Services staff will visit individual buildings to offer staff personal assistance in mapping computers to the new network print server. An implementation support schedule has been provided to relevant senior management.
For further information regarding this print sever migration, please refer to the Help Desk email distributed to Rockhampton Campus on Friday 7 November 2008.
